Synchronicity. I love the sound of that word.  I also love the meaning of the word as defined by Carl Jung. Prior to Jung's coining of the word, synchronicity was merely a coincidence, but it was much more than that. It was a coincidence that actually solved a problem or verified a thought, belief or even an opinion. It can be a confirmation as well as an answer or solution to a problem. People of faith may prefer to call it divine intervention, but when I use the word synchronicity, I am still referring to divine intervention. The word synchronicity simply explains (for me) the way that the universe and the angels (as God has directed) are working to solve the little details of our lives. I experienced it last week and again today. I have some bills on automatic draft which is usually quite painless and worry free. I've been in misery for almost two weeks now with a skin condition known as cellulitis. I've had it before, but this time, one particular area seemed to refuse to heal. The prescription ointment wasn't working, the home made remedies weren't working, and I was becoming a pretty grouchy person. The home remedies did bring some relief from the pain for a while, but the condition was not improving. I was beginning to think that I simply could not come up with the medicine I need to heal this condition. Then yesterday, an amazing thing happened. My daughter and I went to CVS to get some conditioner for her hair, and decided to buy some ice cream while we were there. The ice cream freezer is at the back of the store, just behind the close out and special sale rack. As I walked past and glanced at the rack to be sure I didn't miss out on any spectacular sale item, there on the top shelf was a solitary tube of something that had the word aloe in it. Why do you suppose that even Jesus blessed food before eating it? We now know that everything is energy and is affected by energy. We also know that our words are powerful. Even the Bible speaks of the power of life and death given to the tongue. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21 ESV Therefore, the purpose of blessing the food is more than a statement of thanks, it is an action of energizing the food to be nutritious as the Creator intended. In this day and age, when corporations are adding pesticides to our food and genetically modifying the food (so they make more money), it is more important than ever that people take the time to bless or energize their food before consuming it. Even if you doubt this premise of energizing food, it certainly will not hurt to place yourself in a state of gratitude before eating.
